THE WALKING STORY
Posted by: Malcolm on Tuesday 9th of February at 04:13 pm

Message from bugsy brian edwards: Cool

hi thanks for getting the site together, bit of a mess up as another site kept coming up, so could,nt tell many in Goa., we are all ready for the off, although our packs are all a little heavier than we had anticipated around 16 kg, so after our first day and night out we will see what if or can be discarded.
Our names are me Bugsy age 47, Jellybean age 56 and Jago age 42 we will leave through the gate way of india tomorrow 23 nov, before we leave, we intend to to do a simple ceremony at the jetty to call upon our guardian spirits and angels to guide us on a safe jouney inside and out. thanks to nic, liam and malc for your support. love and peace, BOM SHANKAxxx

Bugsy: Cool
hi and thanks to all for the kind messages, well here we are in alibag, arrived yesterday afternoon. first 2 days went well, . 1 major problem, our weights, we are all carting to much ( insecurity) we've dropped approx 5 kg each. all those little things we collected thinking we would need or be a luxury are going back to Goa in the post. it will be interesting to see what our bags will weigh towards the end. i personally have vowed to leave something at every stopover, only if its a pipe cleaner!! we had to get straight on the catamaran,to mandva jetty, there we performed our puja, at aganesh temple on the quayside.we asked for safety and guidance on our journey. then straight away we were on the beach. over to jeff...
Jeff:
Hi all, thanks for all the support, great to log in today and feel that love.Things could not have gone better, OK the bags are a bit heavy but we're working on that.People have been unfailingly kind and helpful. I think now Buggs has significantly reduced his burgeoning arsenal of knifes we all feel a little more secure, which reminds me we've sorted out the three crucial rules for the expedition:
1. NO MOANING
2. NO FIREARMS
3. NO EVE-TEASING
Hopefully that covers all eventualities. Alibag fort looks impressive and we're off to explore it today Onwards and Upwards!! Don't worry RocknRollers I've dumped things but not my Brylcreem.
No cold vibe can stop this here boogie. Love to all and over to Jon...
Jon:
Hi Everyone Big love & big Thanks for the uplifting support nice one This E-Mail is my first witch is the second first the other being hand washing another mans pants Who knows where this trip will take me. goodbye from us LOVE. Photos should be with you later xxxxxxxxxxxxbugsy from alibag says:

Hi malc, good to chat to you, hope you received the files. Here is a brief summery of the jouney so far
We left gateway of india 9am it took 45 minutes to Mandva where we performed a puja for guidance and safety on our journey, followed by a big group hug,and straight on to the sand, in less than an hour we were on the konkon coast, slightly polluted, but not bad seeing there is more than 14 million inhabitants in Mumbai. The first 2 days walking were india in a nutshell, 500 metres behind the beach were the affluent abodes of the likes of Bollywood with fine architecture and swiming pools and out the front were the fisher wives searching for any fuel they scavage to cook with.
We rested at midday where we had intended to stay, as the ferry landed 4 km after the supposed starting place. there was a game of cricket going on the beach. Then a blue Rickshaw turned up and 5 guardian angels disguised as men delivered us 10 litrs of water and left only to return later with fresh coconuts full of water and soft flesh, just what the doctor ordered.

As the sun got cooler we got on our way , only to find our selves in the middle of an ox and cart race, seemed like the locals all gambled, on the it,as they speeded past us they were thrashing and screaming, so much passion was in it. after 11 km we made camp, oposite Handeri fort which is elegant and on an island 1km off shore. first meal was dal and rice, even tasted better next day, our organising needs a little tidying up to say the least.
We set off at 9 the next morning, for 2 km we walked along these areas where the surface was covered in dried diluted cow dung (a natural anti septic) drying out shrimps, so they can be reconstituted when the seas are too rough for fishing. We then came across some boat builders who were in the process of constructing big fishing boats in the old traditional way, not using nails or screws, they said it took ten men 7 months to build one all by hand, out of hard wood at a cost of 25,000 pounds!

We rested out of the midday sun untill about 3 and strolled the last hour intoAlibag.Kollaba fort is an island off the coast about 1 km and the views are splended from there, jeffs words were it was awe inspiring., all going well we intend to reach marud on sat 50 km from here, look forward to contacting you then,. love and best wishes. bugsy brian edwards xxxxx om shanti om xxxxx

Jago from Alibag says: Cool

Alibag has been fantastic, gorgeous views of the Ghats leading us off down the coast, sunset blush sand bars and real life adventures at the post office via the saddlers, the material shop, tailors, sealing wax shop and a bunch of helpful souls all eager to send off our excess gear back to Goa, it'll be longis and coitre before we know it.We're all laughing and revelling in it!...... 12km tomorrow I'm off to bed.

UPDATE FROM MURUD

bugsy from marud says: Razz

hi, to everyone and a great thanks for your kind messages. well it,s sat and after a hard 14 km this morning we have arrived in marud, im afraid we had to walk past the hot springs , we were on a mission!! got a great camp site on the end of the beach. but nothing like korlie fort. we were like kids or we are kids. We had a 500 year fort to our selves for 2 nights, 360 degrees of spectacular scenery, unfortunately there is no facility to send photos from here.
Today we have started to feel it in our bodies. well the first week is over and we have covered 70 km, it,s been a week of breaking in slowly.and 2 days relaxing tomorrow we are going to attempt to walk 16 km a day for a week ,to get some milage behind us. we feel that is a sensible target. so far its been incredible, most of the people we have met, don,t understand what internet means, let alone have access.they really are simple folk along the coast, but have only made us feel welcome. don,t know the next place we can send photos from, but rest assured we are on the case. love to all and we are all fine. NAMASTE bugsy xxx

Jago from Murud says: Razz

Hiya people, yet again thanks for all your messages, they're really appreciated. Here we are in Murud after a seriously hard slog of a day,we've realized we've really got to pick the pace up a bit in order to make Goa in time and also get a few days lounging around. At the speed we're doing now we've got 30 straight days of 16km with 8 days off to spread between that.
Kordlai fort was unbelieveably good,we spent two nights and a day playing at being Shiva perched high on a promentary, overlooking the coast and the chain of the Ghats leading on down towards our destination. We did some very special meditation as the sun rose and spent the whole day as lords of creation,I'll tell you all about it when I get back but part of me will never leave that fort...very,very special.I was so happy I just couldn't sleep(check outthe pics when we can send them).Thank you all for your love, see you soon Jxxxxx

bugsy, jago and jon from Murud says:

Well we,ve had a great day in marud , we are clean, and fed, and ready for the next adventure the KONKON coast has to offer.!!??! Would like to say some sincere thanks first to malc for downloading the maps from google apart from map 12, the biggest hill so far and we had to about turn on ourselves. spiritually fuming, and a real big thanks to tom in new zealand, he has put together a map showing our progress along the coast with messages from the web site, nice one tom, and another thank you to mat for helping with the quartermastering of this expedition. and thanks to all for contacting, great to hear from you all, and will log on again next mon or tues ,, BOM SHANKA XXXX

UPDATE 1ST DECEMBER 2008 9TH DAY
ARRIVED IN SHRIVARDHAN

bugsy from shrivardhan says: Razz

Hey here we are in Shrivardham, we covered over 40 km in 2 days . we are really feeling it . yesterday at the end of a great day we had to cross a river and jeff cut his feet on sharp barnacle shells, they cut him like a razor, so its been a bit hard for him today.
We are are staying in a tree house on the beach, [indian style resort]just had a wicked king fish thalli. yesterday we got pulled by customs and an hour later by the old bill, very polite sub inspecter, would'nt even take a bung. they both wanted our passport no.and visa entries, bit hard work at the customs, major language breakdown,I ended up talking to the boss on the phone.
Today we passed a quaint little fishing beach and as we climbed up to the road, there were 2 cops on guard, again very friendly, and they told us the little beach we were looking down on was where in 1993, the bomb was smuggled in through that blew up the world trade centre, and ever since there is a guard on that beach. great news, tomorrow,I'm coming back to this cyber cafe and attempting to send 600 pictures. they are all in order of the walk. so thats it for now and will be in touch before we leave here tomorrow afternoon , BOM BOLINATH, OM SHANTI

UPDATE 2nd DECEMBER 2008 10th DAY TUESDAY
MOVING ON SHRIVARDHAN

bugsy from shrivardam says: Razz

Morning, big dose of indian frustration, when the chap from the cyber cafe eventually arrived here this morning after his game of cricket, he declared, its not possible to send data from here. so I've, made double copies on disc and going to speedpost to malc, hopefully they will get there this year!!!. We are off this afternoon, as soon as it cools from the midday heat, we only intend to cover a few km, we have a fair size river to cross, at the end of this beach. We have been tending to jeff's ankle through the night , he cut it on an awkward place, we've been sealing it with propolois. 3 km today will keep us on track. other than that we are all really well, eating very well, drinking lots of ginger/lemon tea, every morning drinking coloidal silver, folowed by a plethera of nutrient supplements that definately contributes to our well being. (nice one jon) rice, dal and veg is our main diet, with fish when possible, hope to be in contact in less than a week . OM SHANTI X

Jellybean (john) from Shrivaram says:

THURSDAY 4TH DECEMBER DAY 12

I think that the next place of communication will be DABHOL and if they have been going strong they should be there I reckon tomorrow or Saturday!
Thats what I reckon anyway!!
Stay safe

SATURDAY 6TH DECEMBER DAY 14

Well had a call from Bugsy today they have got to GUHAGAR 208 km a little further down from where I suggested in DABHOL and spending a couple of days to rest up! There are no email facilities so he is calling again tomorrow with more of an update.......so watch this space!

Razz UPDATE MONDAY 8TH DECEMBER DAY 16 Laughing Cool Cool Razz
FROM GUHAGHAR

I had several calls yesterday on Sunday from Bugsy unfortunately there are no more photos to put up at this time because of the lack of computer and internet availability.Anyway he recited over the phone an update of the continuing journey of these three modern day Baba's so here we go........

Bugsy says from Guhaghar:-

We are now 208 km into this very special journey the three of us have become very close to each other, and the organising of our daily needs has become a special space where we all fall into place with the tasks that have to be done for our everyday needs.
The day we left Shrivardhan we crossed over from Raigad district and into Ratnagiri district. It was close to dusk as we walked between the houses down narrow streets passing through a Muslim fishing village followed by lots of inquisitive smiling children wondering where these three strangers have come from. The evening air was filled with a very loud call to prayer from the Mosque it felt quite timeless and Ancient.
We camped that night near a lookout tower close to the river, there were some fishermen who throughout the night we could hear them talking and listening to their radio, just before they left they gave us the last fish they caught so at 4.30 in the morning John and l cooked some rice steaming the fish above and made a kedgerie,we waited for daylight and woke Jeff it was so good you can't get the fish more fresh than that!

So onwards after a good breakfast leaving Bankot Fort and passing Turtle beach and up along some steep hills following a road over the Headland and down and got a ferry accross a river
where we met two guys one English called Scott and his German friend Lils who were Kayaking down the coast also from Mumbai to Goa they had thirteen fishing rods and mostly catching Baramundi at one point they were arrested by customs and questioned and searched but let off later that day. We helped them with their kayaks into the water and saw them off and as we turned around we were then faced with two customs officers, luckly they were happy to see our documents and left us,We also met a Dutch guy called Sonny who was cycling down to Goa!
We met up with the two kayakers the next day and planned to camp with them further up the coast but we did'nt make it up to them as we were tired out and so stayed in a a lodge by the beach b&b and evening meal which gave John a chance to do the washing which he is very good at!

The last two days have been on roads walking through the most beautiful scenery of mango plantations. The Ratnagiri district is one of the worlds leading suppliers of mangoes. The majority of the villages are Muslim with a minority of Hindu, no Christian as yet and the people that we meet are so friendly and helpful even though there is often a language barrier.
On Friday we set up at a great campsite looking down on Dabhol Creek. We walked 14 km yesterday and realised how fit we are getting,Jeffs ankle has healed after all the care we gave it! I am resting my foot and had it in a bowl of cold water as l strained it after jumping off a boat with my backpack on,and John said his hips are noticing the load he is carrying.Apart from that we are very content with life and happy to be experiencing this special adventure
I send out a big ''LOVE'' to all my friends and especially to my Mother who has just let me be me!
Bugsy

John says from Guhaghar

Basics are of the very best Love, happiness, friendship, cool water, good simple food and experience!! On a very personal level l am proud and feel that what we are doing is so right. What a thing to do with a life, living it to be alive, and alive we are with all emotion hit from day to day, from love to pain is all being soaked in and sorted in its right order.
Only need to say one more thing ''BEAUTIFUL''
big love to you
Jellybean John

Jeff says from Guhagar

The light here is so diffuse , the soft milky Maharastra light where time and distance are smudged and blended, all lost in a gossamer wrapped cocoon. Our usual temporal regime has fallen away almost unnoticed and very quickly we've become watchers of the Moon and Tides, plugging straight into a far older way of being. The Purity of what we are doing is a total Joy of True Existence without stress and worry, just Being.... and enjoying BEING!
What we are doing is the most Ancient thing there is as Humans to walk through a landscape carrying and acquiring all we need along the way.We are replicating our existence before Farming and hours and all the other extraneous defensive add-ons of Neolithic Revolution. One where we not only followed migratory species but truly were one our selves, this is how we populated our Earth.
We walk feeling very connected to our past and who knows maybe our future aswell!
Life is sweet, time fleeting and Spirit unconquerable!
Jeff xxxx.

Well they hope to get to GANPATIPURI on thursday and RAGNAGIRI on saturday and hopefully from there they will be able send over a few new photos from the many that have been taken.
It all sounds like they are having an amazing and magical conciousness expanding experience and as l am sitting in my room in Exmouth looking out on a grey cold winters day its hard to feel the magic, but at the same time l feel good to be part of the whole thing by updating the website.
Love to all
Malcolm Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

Laughing UPDATE WEDNESDAY 10th DECEMBER DAY 18 Laughing

Well l had a very brief call from Bugsy yesterday they had just settled for the night on what he called paradise beach where they had seen some dolphins and the water was crystal clear and had a lovely meal.So according to the maps he said that they were 262km (approx) which according to my readings they spent the night on this little beach shown below and they would of moved on today and it is only about 15 km from GANPATIPULI so l think they will rest up there for a couple of nights as they had been walking hard as he said since he last spoke they had covered 53 km in two days so they must be getting fitter so they will be down at RATNIGIRI by friday or saturday.
I was surprised that in the post today l recieved the disc with photos on that bugs got sent back from SHRIVARDHAN which as he said at the time that they might arrive next year!!! but hey presto they are here and so l will be sorting through those and will get some of them up on site.
I must admit that when l saw some of them l feft very envious of the wide palm fringed beaches and aqua blue water and skies and sunshine and warmth as l looked out of my window at the cold grey rainy day!!!!! ohwell there you go
peace and love
Malc.
ps This is my very first attempt at dealing with uploading stuff on a website as l was shown how to do it and there are things that l would like better but its all abit beyond me at the moment but I am trying my best to keep it all bascically running!! and a big thanks to Tom for his extra coverage on google maps nice one mate!
cheers xxx

the spiritual opportunists from ganpatapule says:

GANPATIPULE hi, we arrived here with pride, having 277km behind us, never the less a little bit worse for wear. So we feel like the pressure is off and we are taking a well deserved 2 night break , here in the maharastra tourism resort, we have taken a deluxe nona/c suite sea facing and its luxury. lt feels like we are in charge of the walk and can move at a more leisurely pace.
The last few days have been a bit harder for us, but the scenery and people, fantastic. its great malc has received the snaps, we will send more from ratnagiri.the photos are just images of our visual experience, the smells, sounds and tastes are our personal reward for participating in this experience, for sure mother lndia gets you in touch with your senses. We are all delightfully impressed with the site and the maps have been vital in navigating us along the way. A big big thanks to malc for his encouraging enthusiastic contribution to the whole mission, and Jon, yes we are cheezy!!??!!.on a personal level, if it wasn,t for my sore feet , this could all be an adventurous dream. Bugsy xxxx

John from ganpatepule says:

Namaste from Jellybean. Right on it! BIG LOVE to you all J B J.

Jago from Ganpatipulle, India says:

Hope you're all doing as good as we are,it's my first sight of the site since Murud nearly two weeks ago, thanks for all the emails and thanks to all we've met along the way who have showered us in kindness, generosity and genuine common humanity. It's impossible to convey anywhere near adequately the deluge of sensory input that assails us every step of the way.Over half way now which is quite an achievement and all seems set fair for arriving in Goa as conquering heros in the first week of the newyear. Glad to be stopped for 36hours RnR in a plush hotel sea-view room, nice...showers, beers, chicken,........tomorrow the road starts again!!!!!Viva Rockers xxxxx

UPDATE SATURDAY 13 th DECEMBER DAY 21 Cool Cool Cool

bugsy from ratnagiri says:
Friday 12th december

hi best wishes from RATNAGIRI,we arrived here 11 this morning staying in a resort looking out over the bay where we walked earlier, probably the last chance of a room for the next week . We left GANPATIPULE early yesterday and met up with a group of military who were windsurfing from Mumbai to Goa, they planned to complete it in 9 days. they had a massive navy ship supporting them. so after an easy day we arrived 5 km away from here and took advantage of the full moon and stayed up moon watching. we were on this hillock with 360 degree views. ,. it had us all in awe ..we plan to leave here Monday heading for VIJAYADURG 77km away and expect to get there in 4 days.xx,we are having problems downloading pictures, and where we are heading is more remote than before, we are going to attempt to send them back via Goa.
best wishes for now,Bugsy

Jago from Ratnagiri says:

Hi everybody,we're holed up for some serious RnR for the weekend at a flash hotel after finishing over 300kms.Great view, great food, hot showers and baths.Well deserved break. It's wonderful but in the the spirit of a lazy weekend I'm gonna just type a copy of my journal for the other day...
Friday 12
4.30pm
We're camped up for full moon on a small volcanic knoll across the bay fron Ratnagiri,we've just done the 300kms mark,we're waiting for the local kids to go and we're doing a meditation tonight.
Saturday 13
What a wonderful night. The light here really is smudged and all is turned back on itself in an endless progression, blurred and milky. So you never seem to get anywhere, nothing quite seems real-a dreamy, lazy kind of landscape, dissolving and reforming at its edges.
the spot we had last night was perfect. The knoll was at the far end of Ratnagiri bay which curved off to the west where the town lay nestled under a rocky promentary topped by a fort and a lighthouse, behind us lay a small village with it's own tiny cove and an agricultural hinterland and a further headland forming the northern end of the bay.The cloud that had been around all day lifted and we watched the comings and goings of insects, boats and birds.Lagre shoals of sardines were breaking the surface of the water. We were up on top to see an amazing sight. As the sun was setting a sea-eagle(a totem of mine) landed on a rock 20yards away.As this hunter finished his day so another was about to start his.Quick as a flash a dozen small canoes set off from the village across the bay to drift fish for sardine-an ancient sight we were very privileged to see.As these guys set off fellow villagers were returning from the fields with huge bundles of hay upon their heads as on paddy fields!
children played a livly game of cricket.A very ,very special scene in such a beautiful falling light, and to watch the eagle preening at such close quarters - wow.
The full moon blazed across the night, lights shimmered and twinkled,as the moon rose in cold blue light glory we could follow the canoes far off on the steel sheet of ocean.Wonderful music pounded out from across the bay, bats swooped between us.We got some great food together, eventually and loved listening to some great music esp Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros and thought of how he would love the fact of us sitting there laying down his tracks on the road to Ratnagiri, bought a bit of a tear to the eye.Felt so good and potent in all senses,300kms we walked to get this and it felt good. All pleased and happy.Even found a new way, essential oil abuse, quick sniff of peppermint,it's like mainlining Kendall mintcake.
I was up as the moon set and the sun rose and was up on top to see the eagle start his shift and the tiny dots far out on the bay to finally come home and land their meagre catch, what sights...

Right that'your lot from me probably till Malwan,I'm off to get drunk, love you all j xx

These are some photos taken and sent by KISHOR AHER he met them on a road leaving Purnagad away from Ratnagiri

hi guys,

I am attaching these pictures that I took some 15 km south of Ratnagiri.
I was impressed with your energy levels and committment.

I was travelling by car; alongside the coast to setup my dotcom business. I have travelled by the same road that you are travelling; so in case you need any help please let me know and I would try my level best (my cell number 09324681249/ 09702175252).

I suppose you have reached Malvan. Do try and meet my close friend; who is Doctor of Ayurveda(Dr Rahul Pant-walawalkar) and he would be able to guide about road and other stuff and but obvious about Aurvedic Herbs in that area. You can ask any Autorikshaw guy and he would know his address.

I went right upto Murdeshwar in south karnataka and returned back..Do visit my portal www.mygreatstay.com it is india's first portal, dedicated to listing and booking of Homestays in India. I am developing it to help customers to locate these places and experience real india; beside its much cost effective.

Have fun and good luck for journey ahead

UPDATE SATURDAY 21st DECEMBER DAY 28

3 spiritual wide boys from devgad says:

hello everybody love and best wishes. here we are in DEVGAD with 410 km behind us we are all feeling fit as ever and on top of our previous ailments. we had a great rest in RATNAGIRI, and a visit from manchester dave from goa, who presented us with 2 bottles of honeybee brandy. we ate ourselves to the max at the kolinoor resort, and left on mon am for 40 km of road walking that took over some of the most barren volcanic landscape we have encountered so far.on wednesday evening we arrived at village 365km and slept on a concrete jetty, where in the morning a launch, took us over to SINDERDURG district. We were met with the impressive sight of VIJAYDURG fort coming across the bay. we were taken back so much by the fort, we decided to take the day out and dedicate it to one of our special meditations. and a very special day it turned out, lots of exploring, at the end of the day we received a marvelous gift, of watching a pod of dolphins jumping and cutting the surface close to us
The last 2 days have been the most ardous but enjoyable walking, quite off the beaten track, crossing rivers and scaling cliffs. very little contact and having to carry 2 days provisions. so we are all happy boys, none of us looking forward to goa. so we intend to last out the last 8 days walking until 4th jan, thats the plan at least all going well we will reach MALVAN Christmas day, and will try to call home., but we intend to hang out at NIEVTI FORT soon after. love and peace

Jago from Devgad says:

Hello all, love from Maharastra, what a great time we're all having.Vijaydurg fort was really something else,Sea-eagles,dragonflies,a roaring wind, mighty walls,a fairytale playground but as the inumerable, interlocking fire holes showed every step of the way a murderous machine of death for anyone foolhardy enough to attempt to take this citadel unless you've got the back door key of course.
After our mediation began to weave its spell we wandered up the spiralling entrance to be overwhelmed by a cascade of dozens upon dozens of schoolkids and their teachers all jabbering questions and wanting photos, very funny, very chaotic.Up we headed for he shade of a huge Banyan tree, stout and many limbed. There I sat and mused on the high stakes power politics that were played out within these still immpressively intact, impenetrable walls and how all had been left behind in times backwash.Maybe under this very tree some Nawab had sipped sherbert and dallied with his favourite concubine, silk mats spread with delicacies. Was this also the spot where he took his last ,unsuspecting glass of wine before orders from above and a silken cord dealt him a losing hand.Happily playing the Byronic hero for all it's worth(who wouldn't?) I wandered the fort accompanied all the time by swarms of dragonflies playing out their lives as they have for millions of years heedless of these lofty places of princes and steel, as they will for millions more. How transitory all is in this immense recycling machine that is our cosmos.Grab it while you can my friends love to you all jxx

UPDATE THURSDAY 25th DECEMBER DAY 32

The boys from MALVAN says:

Hi and season greetings from MALVAN we arrived here this morning, after 7 nights sleeping on beaches, rocks and jettys, all feeling in good health, .Yesterday we had one of our hardest days walking , soft sand thick jungle, steep rocks. at one point we followed a wood cutters path into the forest and then a dried out river bed only to find a dead end, fortunately a wood cutter heard our cries of frustration and helped us out of the lost mess we were in, previous to that saga, we had to walk for a couple of hours on soft sinking sand, and with the packs made walking extremely difficult.
In the afternoon we were presented with the longest beach so far, 16 km and in 3 hours we covered 12 km, and by then we had all had enough and after a simple meal we were all out for the light before 8 o'clock. This has been a great day here in MALVAN and unexepectedly arrived by boat not having to walk the last hour, a real Christmas treat. For lunch we feasted on chicken and carlsberg, all felt a bit bloated!after our simple diet on the walk.
After33 days we have a good vibe going, and work as a team, one aspect we all enjoy is the individual space we allow our selves when walking, but always keeping an eye on one another.
We intend to leave in the morning 4 hours walk to NIEVTI KELLAR (fort) and do our fort thing that we have so enjoyed over the last weeks. arriving in malvan this morning was very special for Jon and Jeff as they both have walked this stretch back to GOA previously. So all 3 of us can claim every footstep from MUMBAI TO GOA , mine earlier this year and jon and Jeffs 2 and 3 years ago respectively.
Well off to try just one more, love to all.... us xxxx

UPDATE TUESDAY 30th DECEMBER DAY 37

the spiritual fugatives from vengula says:

Hi,
we got to VENGULA this morning, slight change of plan we are heading to the GOA boarder for the 31st . Hope to reach ARAMBOL before dusk. we,ve had a great week soaking up this most picturesque landscape. We attempted to stay on NIEVTI FORT for 3 nights , big mistake, ended up getting moved on by some very pompous policemen. They first put us under house arrest when we went to the village for water, then escorted us back to the fort and gave us our marching orders. We walked 4 km over a hill to the next village only to be met by the inspector and crew and ordered to be on our way early next morning. So we want to get MARHASTRA under our belts and have had a great run staying on indian archeological sites without permission. We are all of mixed feelings about finishing the walk, but what a great experience we have had. Well thats it until GOA , we will e.mail or call Malc when we arrive at our place in ARPORA, should be 3rd or 4th January.
love and best wishes from us all! xxxxxx

Well Congratulations to the Boys they have arrived in north Goa today and will be celebrating their achievement and the Newyear tonight on a Kery beach near to Terekol Fort
I would like to say that I have enjoyed keeping you informed of the journey. I think there will be more photos to show when available. So for now I would like to wish you all a very happy and peaceful new year!
Love Peace & Harmony

bugsy from arpora goa says:

well all of a sudden, i find it dificult to express words to explain our 41 days out there on the konkan coast. for me its a long time dream come true and the fact we have been able to share the experience with our friends and love ones through this site has been so touching. we all intend to write a descriptive account of our individual experience and our favorite photos and moments. in the future, and will e.mail all who have contributed to the site, when the update is complete once again big big thanks to my good friend malcolm, and any one who has not checked his web site,, malcolmhorton.com please feel free to do so. thanks malc, love you xx big love and best wishes to all. bugsy oh yes one more thing. there are 3 words that have been repeating through me throughout the journey and a very comforting mantra they have been. INDIA MY LOVE. for the vibrant love and compassion we have felt along the way,l take my hat off to her. it felt like we were guided all the way.on so! many occasions we were blessed by existence.
love to all bugsy.xxx

Jago from Goa says:

Thanks for all your support and best wishes everybody,it's been really appreciated by us all.Difficult to know what to say about what, without question, has been the greatest experience of my life to date.the kindness, love and comradeship we found on that long, lovely road has filled our spirits and gladdened our hearts to overflowing.I'm going to write up all my thoughts about this when I've had a little time to digest and reflect on it all.In the meantime just thanks once again to you all and I'm off to continue enjoying the delights of cold beers and hot curries.Love jago x

THE MESSAGE CIRCLE
Posted by: Malcolm on Tuesday 9th of February at 05:55 pm

Well the Journey will start around 10.00 am on Sunday 23rd November at the Gateway
of India on the water front in Mumbai. The three adventurers Bugsy,Jellybean and Jago
will start it all with a traditional offering of flowers, fruit, incense to the Gods giving thanks

and call upon their Spiritual Guides to bless them for a safe Journey down to Goa.
They will then take a boat over to the Headland to commence the walk.
I spoke with Bugsy today Satuday 22nd and he said that he was feeling a little nervous
but very excited and looking upon this adventure being a new phase and change in his life.

The next communication hopefully from them will be from Alibag a large town
about 24 klm down the coast and of course depending on their pace of walking will be
about two to three days.So at this time I wish them good health love peace & harmony
Malcolm

Sue from Nottingham says:

Walking the Walk - a poem by Rumi

Keep walking, though there's no place to get to.
Don't try to see through the distances.
That's not for human beings.
Move within, but don't move the way fear makes you move.

Today, like every other day, we wake up empty & frightened.
Don't open the door to the study and begin reading.
Take down a musical instrument.

Let the beauty we love be what we do.

There are hundreds of ways to kneel and kiss the ground.

well... not 'empty and frightened' every day surely!?

Good Work Malcolm...
All the best for the rest of the walk to the Three Amigos
Love Sue

agreed to keep them abreast of what you are posting - from the initial look at the site
I think they'll be thrilled to see your progress. Is this OK with you? I'll be selective.
We're both very jealous that we can't do the trip. Just arrived back from three weeks
travelling around South Africa so we needed your Dad's attention desperately.
If you wish to send any messages to them in near to real time please feel free to use us. BR Ralph.

without German scientists for fucks sake? Also somewhat disappointed to learn that it will

tomorrow, so will see them both soon. Anyway, have a great time and love and blessings to you all.
Love Doreen.
I have just called your Mum and Dad again to add their message. They hope you are having
a good time. The man with poorly feet, Dad says to tell him to bathe them in hot, salt water.

Pecora & chai at our favourite pukka restaurant here & he was
reminiscing about the time he cyled the same route back in '74,
sleeping & cooking outside as he went. Sounds like you're in for a treat!
